I get that same symptom with 1.1.6-fix1, and it's intermittent. Sometimes the 
figures render in LyX, sometimes not, and always render in gv. The longer my 
book gets, the more this seems to occur. Is your LyX file over 50,000 words?

By the way, I never reported this because it isn't much of an issue with me, 
as I can see the figures in gv.
