Thanks Ronald for the feedback.

I couldn't find the complaints you mentioned on Google and in particular the
quote:

"If you're using a locale such as LANG=ru_RU, and some others,
these fonts will not load in Qt. This is a Qt bug that Troll
 Tech refuse to fix."

I am a little new to the game, but is it usual for someone to put things as
strongly as 'refusing' to fix? 'Haven't got the time' or 'the issue is
considered low priority at the current stage' I understand, but 'refuse to
fix' struck me as a little odd. Well, to each their own.

In any case, I found a workaround. Using 'ClipboardConvertor', which I got
from www.maccentre.ru I found a tool to turn Word Cyrillic into plain text
(or other), and with CyrillicEncoder from VersionTracker, I was able to turn
plain cyrillic text into a kind of KOI8 garbage which LyX accepted and read
as normal Cyrillic.

I am no serious coder so perhaps I don't understand the issues, but would it
be so difficult to add this functionality to LyX? Perhaps you could tell me
the right place to direct my questions on this matter. Would it be enough
to simply post it on the TrollTech support threads?

Thanks again,

Peter Ringwood
