Hi,
how exactly does the self-defining work?
I found something like that in the documentation:
\newrefformat{sec}{Section \ref{#1} on page \pageref{#1}}
but is there a way to define different ways to reference e.g. a
section? And if so, how do I chose which one I want?
There's a limit to the flexibility here. The prettyref package just
gives you one pre-formatted reference for each prefix, such as "sec". So
no, you can't do more than one, and there's no choosing.
