This is exactly what I'm talking about when I say the documentation is bad. First of all, you say <page> won't print the page number, but that's not true. "<page>" always prints the page number and only the page number. It's the <page> part of "<reference> on page <page>" which doesn't always print the page number! Your note in the documentation is misleading also because it's in the wrong place. That line comes after all of the format types are described, so it appears to apply to all the formats. But, as we have seen, it only applies to one of them. Move it to the one that it refers to. And finally, don't use the word "style". That's a technical LaTeX term. Use "format", since that's what LyX calls them in the cross-reference dialog box. > [prettyref] is not described by design, because then I had to use > prettyref for the docs. If prettyref is no longer maintained, then it won't be changing much, so you should document the thing. And I bet that you could find a way to describe its behavior without actually requiring the package. And I'm still confused as to why you include a feature in the gui that you won't support fully. The file is short. Include it in LyX.
