You can find on my blog the presentation of two drawing softs that I use in combination with Latex: Ipe and JPicEdt.
http://yildizoglu.blogspot.com/ Ipe is one that I mainly use now. A brand new version is in preparation. JPicEdt is also nice because it can generate PSTRIcks code.
