You simply don't need to change the textclass, that's the beauty of it :)
In very rough terms, what I'm saying now is the the equivalent of
\documentclass{article}
it is very easyn to say
\documentclass{book}
isn't it? That's my point when creating several layouts, the are related to
article the same way the other layouts are related with LaTeX's article, do
you understand now?
