Machines that have been in storage often just need to hooked to wall wart and/or batteries for a while and the backup battery will charge up. But it could be dead and need to be replaced. That's a common maintenance thing people are having to do now because the batteries are failing and when they do, can leak corrosive material on the PCB and damage it. -- John.
