I have a prolific adapter... it is perfectly functional with LaddieAlpha and TEENY, because TEENY is so lean and mean that it has no timeouts.
For this scenario, of TELCOM and TeraTerm, prolific should be fine. As was mentioned above, for simply testing transmit and receive lines in both directions, you should configure both sides for NO flow control, 8 bit, no parity, 1 stop bit. If you can rig a loopback, do so. Seems like the cabling or adapter is still not right. That would be my guess. Could buzz out the cable and confirm. -- John.
