The wand interface is a standard called "laser emulation" or "wand emulation", not just for the M100/102

"sqeeze" just refers to the retainer clips built in to the 9-pin plug.

Careful there are several variations of MS120. The laser/Wand Emulation version is just one.

VDD is the same VDD as the rest of the  machine, +5v
return signal is the same, ie ttl.

You can use oil-based stamp-pad ink to re-ink the ribbon, until it mechanically wears out from the beating. (not wd-40!) Stamp-pad ink also comes in water/glycerine-based, so make sure it says oil-based explicitly, or else keep looking for one that does.
