I use an immersion technique but I did have one item that got “overdone.” I was doing a batch of keycaps on the stovetop and foolishly left an Enter key with its hinge bar in as it was a bit fiddly to get out. It spent more time at the bottom of the pot so it got over-brightened and came out matching the white keys rather than the grey keys.
