And here's links to get both connectors and some ribbon cable. No special tricks to the wiring, just match up the colored wire to the pin #1 mark on both connectors.
The new connectors are a little better than the ones on that particular old cable in that pic. The old IDC plug was not polarized so they had to write "TOP" on it. The old centronics plug didn't have the hooks for the bail lock clips, though, the old connector was a little better for a laptop bag, both because of being all plastic and the smoother shape.
