It should be released to mass distribution in about two weeks or so. It
will then start appearing on 2.3 devices shortly thereafter, and custom
roms for rooting will most likely start appearing around new years for
root. That is about as good a guess as any. Hopefully those of us who
bought a phone that was released in the last year will get it. It is up
to the carriers and phone manufacturers though. I too am one waiting
for 2.3
