The ultra didn't even get 2.3.6 until I want to say april of this year. It
was stuck on 2.3.4 wich had a bad camera issue. Actually, there is plenty
of interest on that phone if you look into it on the forums. The interest
is there, it is just that I don't think they can figure out how to make a
custom rom for it. In all seriousness, it should work. The specs on that
phone are good enough for ics, so I don't know why Samsung isn't even
bothering.

As far as speech on gingerbread, what I did was use talkback in conjunction
with MA. So I had the best of both worlds. I set MA to use my default
speech ingine, so that you didn't know when you were switching between the
two, but me personally that is what I did.

Subject: Re: [MA] Samsung transform ultra and updates

To answer your first question, the answer is most likely not. They would
have done so by now if they were going to. In fact, there is no custom ROM
for it and that is generally a sign. The presence of a custom Rom doesn't
guaranty support, but the lack of one on an older handset, usually means
that there is not enough interest in the phone to warrant development. In
that situation, the longer the handset is on the market without an update,
the likelihood of an official upgrade diminishes. I would venture to say
that, though I could be wrong, you have reached the limit of what will be
done in the future. Assuming they will though, you can be assured at this
point only ICS will be released, this means no Jelly Bean. No manufacture
skips a version of an operating system to go to the next. Having said that,
Talk back works better than MA but Ma offers enough features that it is
really a trade off and depends on the skin used whether Ma is better or not.
