Hi Donal, What phone are you using? I assume you have updated to the latest version of IOS 4 before trying to update to IOS 5? This may not be important, but when Lion was released, it required that users update to 10.6.8 I believe before attempting the update. Maybe something similar here.
If you're using a 3GS, Apple said that IOS 5 would work with it, so I don't think the phone can be at fault, especially considering that Cait is getting the same issue.
