I had a similar finder problem a few months ago. I eventually solved
it with help from people on this list. I suspect my problem was different from
yours but I'll post a few things I did below.
My problem with Finder always being busy happened when I emptied my trash. I
emptied the trash on a NLS cartridge, basically a USB drive, and then just to
be sure a while later I emptied the trash a second time. On the second time my
finder locked up. Busy, Busy, Busy.
I learned that if I changed from column view to List view the problem
stopped. Also, If I deleted the Finder preference file the problem stopped.
It occurred again only if I did the double trash delete again.
launching the finder again did not help.
So, in my case I just never ever delete twice quickly. I always make sure a
file is in the trash.
I think the suggestion to unplug any accessories and start again is a good one.
Then bring back one at a time and see if that is the problem.
Keep writing with your efforts and lets see if this list can come through for
you as it usually does for me!
