Nothing crazy about this at all. We live in a sighted world, and I would imagine it must be quite boring looking at an empty space where a cover art picture should be.
It is a bit crazy for websites to include images or photos don't you think? Of course not. I am sure most blind people will either just resize an image of themselves or their guide dog etc to insert into this space.
