I think Paul was referring to using Paypal without a credit card. My
initial problem was trying to set up a paypal account from Canada
without a CC. Paul has suggested doing so by setting up a US bank
account. Then Tom suggested that he has been able to set up a paypal
account using a TD Waterhouse account (based in NJ). TD Waterhouse will
allow Canadians to set up a US bank account and provides a Visa like
debit card which Paypal accepts, even though this debit card has no line
of credit attached. The US debit cards are apparently much better than
our Canadian debit cards.

In your case Larry, you had no problem setting up paypal account because
you entered a CIBC visa card number. Even though the funds are not
withdrawn from your Visa, you still have a credit card on file so you
are internationally verified for that reason.

Yes..since eBay seems internationally friendly, I expect that it will
probably start changing paypals current policies, making it more
accessible to Canadians. I am going to check out Hyperwallet now.

Thanks,
