I am in the same boat, using my fresh new emac right now. I love it!

I was hesitant -- I wanted a second-hand tower, but I'm very glad I
did this. The bundled software is a big draw (Appleworks 6, Tony
Hawk 4, Deimos Rising, Sound Studio, Quicken...)

As far as superdrive and drive... it's worth going for the superdrive
model. Any upgrades will cost the same and be less integrated - i.e.
no Apple warranty on it.

You get an extra 128 MB, a superdrive, and an extra 40 GB hard drive
for the extra cost. Add up the price difference and see if it's
worth it for you.

However, I don't think you can dual-boot with this one - the
superdrive disallows OS 9.

Of course, you'll want more RAM right away. And send for the iLife
up-to-date IMMEDIATELY because I think it expires mid-March.
