In suggest simply using Disk First Aid off of the installer. Boot from the
Panther installer CD (restart with the CD in the drive and hold down the 'C"
key). Once the machine has booted, open the Disk First Aid application from
the command menu up top. You can select either Journaled or not. Journaling
gives you a backup of files right on the same drive, but slows down the
performance a bit.
