Any chance you removed the mac standard ethernet extensions before trying the 
Realtek extension? just to rule it out.

How much bearing on things are these ID's? I have no idea.

A 10/100 card that needs 300mhz, better not tell its cousin in the 166mhz pc, 
I upped it from 120. 
9600's do 300?
