Yes, dropped it in a minimal freshly installed
OS 9.1 System Folder that didn't have the Apple
network extentions installed.

Me either, except for the text files that come with
both the D-Link and Realtek extentions insist they
must match the ID in the card's ROM.

The Card's ID is pci1045,c861

The ID in the driver on the CD included with the card
is pci1186,1301

The updated D-Link driver ID is pci1186,1301

Now why would D-Link insist that the card and driver
ID must match, then supply the extention with an
ID that _doesn't_ match?

OK, now testing minimal 9.1 System Folder with:

Unedited updated D-Link extention = trashes something
so bad it won't boot even with the extention removed.

Unedited originally supplied D-Link extention =
exactly the same thing as the updated one.

Unedited Realtek extention = empty Bomb box and total
freeze.

For each test I trashed the System Folder then copied
the System Folder (which works fine) from the second
hard drive, dropped the extention in and (attempted
to) reboot.

Looks like time for an e-mail to D-Link asking for
an explanation of why this card does not work in a
Mac when it (this very same card) works fine in a
PC.

Bah, now it's giving me a bus error. Now it
froze when booted off the 9.1 CD. Heck with using
this card in this Mac!
