Whether it will work is not quite the same question as to whether you
should use it. Equipment which is directly connected to the phone line has
to be approved by British Telecom.

The American phone system uses a different voltage to the UK, so specific
American and British equipment cannot be interchanged. Some pieces of
equipment are designed to be used in either the US or the UK, but many are
not. If it says "American version", then I would not order it.
