I used to use Maclink to get PC Excel files into claris and did this
by changing the file type and creator - which you can also do with
ResEdit using the 'get file/folder info' option on the file menu.
The file type for claris wp docs is CWWP and the creator is BOBO (?)
for spreadsheets the filetype is CWSS with the same creator.
Try disabling the Maclink/DataViz apps, change the file type and
creator for the files you require and open them from inside claris works
- if this works quit claris and try just double clicking them to see if
claris is the default app for them. It sounds as though MacLink is the
default app at the moment - maybe something to do with the file exchange
prefs (used to be PC exchange).
If you are stuck with text which you wish to form into spreadsheet
columns and rows you can do this quite easily if you have Excel - and
once in Excel the columns can be copied and pasted back into claris -
links are all lost though.
Good luck
Pete
