Thanks Pete. I looked at the file type and creator on my files, and the wp doc file type and creator are indeed CWWP and BOBO. However, opening them in clarisworks does work, without MacLinkPlus launching and translating. But.... > The file type for claris wp docs is CWWP and the creator is BOBO (?) >for spreadsheets the filetype is CWSS with the same creator. > Try disabling the Maclink/DataViz apps, change the file type and >creator for the files you require and open them from inside claris works >- if this works quit claris and try just double clicking them to see if >claris is the default app for them. ...when I double click after quitting ClarisWorks, it reverts back to the same problem. I don't know how to disable MacLink....I have looked in the manual and looked at online help and can't find it. > It sounds as though MacLink is the >default app at the moment - maybe something to do with the file exchange >prefs (used to be PC exchange). > If you are stuck with text which you wish to form into spreadsheet >columns and rows you can do this quite easily if you have Excel No - it just isn't there! It disappears - not cells, no text, nothingf. It *is* there if I open it in Clarisworks though. Still puzzled - would be great if you could think again : ) Heather Welford -- Mac UK is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... 123Inkjets.com <http://lowendmac.com/ad/123inkjets.html> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Mac UK list info: <http://lowendmac.com/lists/mac-uk.html> Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/mac-uk%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Macintosh?
