It is very difficult to probe the power plug contacts, they are buried
within the outer shaft of the power plug. I always use the socket off of an
old scrap Powerbook board with test leads soldered on to test the PSU.

A common problem is the Powerbooks power connecter breaking away from the
audio board, does it appear loose? Apple also suggest stripping the
Powerbook, disconnecting the internal backup battery and separating all
boards, leave apart for 10 minutes, then reassemble. If still dead it's a
case of swapping out all boards one by one. Most I've seen like this had
motherboard failure.

If you are in Bristol, I'm going to be in Clifton tomorrow morning from
around 10am, we might be able to meet up to try your Powerbook with my
charger, email me off list as I'm on digest.
