I send them a few emails again but no response, I guess I should go with this story to their rival mag's as suggested on this mailing list.

Actually I think you'd be better off telephoning MacFormat. I'm a journalist and although I've never done any work for MacFormat, I suspect they operate in a similar way to many other mags.


Don't keep sending emails, they are too easy to ignore. Call, and ask for the editor. If they fob you off ("Sorry, he's in a meeting"), *keep calling*, and make the time between the calls shorter each time. When you are calling every five minutes, someone will be forced to do something. Don't get angry down the phone at them - be polite, but be very firm. If you get no luck with the editor, try the managing editor, even the MD of the publishing company. If they really promised 50 quid for pictures and used your picture, you have every right to chase them for your 50 quid.

Of course at this rate you might end up spending 50 quid on phone calls just to wring it out of them...
