etc etc

I don't recall saying that some PC cases are the same as that of the G5, I
recall saying
that there are many that bear a resemblance to it.

"OH not forgetting that the non
have hinge open side panels on them". When was the last time you saw a PC?!
Oh, and thanks for reminding us that they don't have an Apple logo on the side
- THAT's
why we can't get OS X to run on our Dells..

>It provides both! Etc..

The G5 statistics are very impressive. If you buy a dual CPU one. It's not
quite such good
news lower down but they are still good. There has to be a trade off for price
but the
speed will be a little bit less impressive by the time the G5 hits the shops.
And people just
aren't going to buy it - I can honestly say that after asking several people
from greatly
varied backgrounds while some said it looked like a good quality item, they
all said it was
just too ugly.
You may have guessed that I care a good deal about fortunes of Apple and have
done
for nearly twenty years now - this computer is a bad move as fickle Joe Public
buys with
his or her eye and there will be less money made on this than any PowerMac
before.

Yes I do. I used to work in design and I got out because I was ashamed at the
way design
firms rip off their customers.
Norwich Union paid a million pounds for a firm to come with a new name for
them. After
consultations, focus groups (the worst of all - guaranteed to destroy the soul
of product)
and analysis sessions they came up with the name 'Arriva'.
Some time before, a woman who ran a clothes shop not ten minues away from
their
headquarters had also called her business 'Arriva' - and she designed,
consulted,
focused, revised and analysed with a couple of her friends usng a biro on a
napkin on
the train back from London one day.
The G5 is at best a very average design and certainly not what Apple need.

>Apple's designs are always minimalist, design to reduce clutter and=20
>increase work, that thing we all hate but have to do and may as well=20
>make easier on ourselves. Etc..

Agreed, that's why I generally prefer them over PCs.

And I agree that the G4 was showing it's shortcomings and needed revising, but
not like
this. By the way, if you think that multi Xeon PCs would make good boilers,
why do you
think the G5 needs to be practically open and have 9 fans?

>Makes me wonder wether you have ever been into an expensive designer=20

>
>holder and saying "It looks like some bloke made it with a set square=20
>in 5 minutes." They buy it instead, that makes money. Get my drift?

Pencil holders don't cost several thousand pounds.
Also, Aluminium mesh furniture may look impressive but it the novelty soon
wears off
when it's impracticalities are revealed. Then people don't buy anymore and
tell their
friends not to buy it and the stores move on to something else. Get my drift?
Probably not
if you think that because thousands of people buy something justifies it's
existence -
that's how PCs became so popular and why Apple are unable to improve their
situation.
