Hey John. As you seem to be planning on spending on an LCD screen, why not buy yourself a nice refurb or second hand iMac? You can then run osx, have usb, maybe even firewire and you can throw away our old 6200 (or sell it on ebay).
My thought too. Other than RAM and HD (which you can often transfer to another Mac) I think it's rarely worth upgrading a computer. Secondhand ones are so cheap. Cancom have two new 700MHz eMacs for �455 incl. VAT each.
