I understand now regarding the resolution limitations:

The idea was to persuade some one to buy it for my Birthday. Then all I need to concentrate on saving is for the best upgradable Mac I am able to afford. It must be upgradable, as with the 6200 I have found it has no possibilities in this direction.
I bought it at retail price in 1995 before I new anything about PCI card slots and upgradable CPU's, this was just before Apple bought out their first PCI upgradable computers.
So purchasing a Mac like an eMac or iMac, which have limited expandability, I am unable to come to terms with. As funds are always hard to find, I need to keep my computers for a long time. So they need to be upgradable, I think the eMac & iMac have a limited life expectancy.
I do not really want to joint the ebay debate but I do not feel I could trust my hard earned cash to an unstable environment. Just one slip and ALL YOUR MONEY IS LOST and a long time is needed again to recoup it. Also I do not want to sell my old faithful 6200 which has served me without any major breakdowns for so long, a perfect advert for the Mac quality.

Hey John. As you seem to be planning on spending on an LCD screen, why not buy yourself a nice refurb or second hand iMac? You can then run osx, have usb, maybe even firewire and you can throw away our old 6200 (or sell it on ebay).
Just an idea.

My thought too. Other than RAM and HD (which you can often transfer to =20=
another Mac) I think it's rarely worth upgrading a computer. Secondhand =20=
ones are so cheap. Cancom have two new 700MHz eMacs for =A3455 incl. VAT = =20 each.

It's not worth selling 6200s on eBay, IMHO. Rarely sell, and then for=20 =A310! Can be parted out for memory and HD, of course.

CRT screens are indeed very cheap now but they are large and cumbersome. The LCD screens is the direction to move.

Or scrub the idea of buying a flat panel and treat yourself to a CRT flatscreen - http://web6.scan.co.uk/Products/Info.asp?WPID=46006
