I see that SCSI DAT tapes go for 20 quid on ebay but have no idea if they will work with a Mac. I got a few old Powermac's I could build it into or hang off.
I've got a DAT drive in the office that i havent gotten round to setting up due to not being able to find a version of retrospect to allow me to use it. This one was pulled from an old powermac so i know its mac compatible. It used to live in a 7300.
I'll dig out the specs for it when i get into the office.
