Got a G4 running OSX 10.1.5 and when I try and empty the trash can it says its in use. I'm still getting used to OSX and on the old system I used to rebuild desktop regularly and use disk first aid so what's the equivalent to this now? I opened Disk Utility but option to run First Aid is greyed out, and I haven't had chance to upgrade Norton yet.

A workaround is to transfer everything in the Trash to a folder on the Desktop (or anywhere else), boot into OS9 and delete it from there (in /Users/~/Desktop).

You can run Disk First Aid on the start-up disk only in OS9. You'll need to boot from an OSX System disk to run it in 10.
