I really don't understand why this feature was removed from Panther - I used it all the time. In conjunction with the changes to the UI for accessing locations on your drives things have definitely been made more complicated for the new user, and less conveninet for the experienced, in my view.
Hopefully a shareware (or even better freeware) developer will bring out a simple utility to add back the Favorites feature. One more point - does anyone feel, as I do, that the Go menu should be in the Apple menu, and selecting a choice from the menu should open it in the Finder? Or alternatively, when you F11 to reveal the desktop, the application should automatically switch to the Finder, so that you can use the Go menu directly to open a location.
