Nick, So far as 10.3 goes, I believe 10.2 is the limit for a g3 233mhz 500MB RAm 7gb hd, or am I worng here. Not sure how much installation space 10.3 needs.

I would think that the simplest option would be to purchase a new copy of 10.3 (�88 inc VAT from Dabs). It comes with the optional developer tools, and in addition you get a substantially faster, more stable, and up-featured version of the OS.
