To ask the obvious question:

After getting the Ethernet modem working fine with the PowerBook and being
able to access the web based interface page with the setup details you
wanted/need, you left the modem connected to the internet the same way and
have connected the ABS station to the modem by means of a router (either
built in or additionally between the two)? Then it would only be a matter of
setting the ABS to use DHCP to connect to the router and Ethernet
modem...This also provides a better level of security to you and others
using the ABS.
