address of the connected computer to be registered with them. Does an
ethernet hub actually have a MAC address? I'm looking at one I've got
(old 3Com 8-port OfficeConnect) and there's no mention as far as I can
see of an internal MAC address. And thinking about it, a hub is just a
pass-through device, isn't it? - so doesn't need an ethernet device
itself...
I suppose that she's going to need a router, isn't she? - which does
have a MAC address.
Has anyone on the list got a Telewest broadband connection with a
cable modem connected to a router?
Oh, the Mac aspect: well my daughter's computer is a Lombard, which
rather rules out wifi as well (I emailed the list voluminously a
couple of months ago about the problems finding a suitable wifi card
for a Lombard at the moment.)
