as much as i hate to say it as a programmer - but if you are talking
about a few hundred you may as well use a spreadsheet..

If you are using X, then I believe most people that do not need to
manage
hundreds of contact are indeed using Address book together with
iCal and
some inexpensive time management (billing) software (Mike K posted
a link to
this recently).
If you have someone familiar with it at your organisation then
using MySQL
could be a good customised solution for you...
Otherwise, the solutions tend to be rather bloated and/or expensive
unless
you require the additional features such as project management.
Do you use MS Office for Mac? That may have enough features for
you...I
