Quick update, not had much time to play with computers recently :-(

The updates on the site seem to be ROM upgrades for the card. I've a
bad track record with ROM upgrades (1 motherboard and 1 CDRW consigned
to the bin to date...) so I'm steering clear of those <G>. The
Proformance upgrades won't play as I don't have a GA5.9.x card
apparently. Still heard nothing from Formac.

I think I'll look out for a secondhand 'standard' 16Mb ATI Rage card
that would have been an original fitting on the machine for now, as I
can't afford a new Radeon Mac-specific card at this time of year. Most
of the cards on Ebay at the moment are AGP cards from G4s so I'll keep
an eye out for something suitable.

Just as a matter of interest, does anyone out there have any
experience of the Formac GA12? I know absolutely nothing about it, no
idea about how much RAM it has or anything. The bloke I bought the Mac
from had it fitted when he bought the machine as he's a Graphic
Designer and asked the nice man in the Apple shop to put a decent card
in for him. He couldn't remember anything about the specs.

The only other thing is that according to the sticker on the back of
the machine, it was born in July 1999 and was always a 450 but only
had 128Mb RAM originally. I've had a poke around inside and it
definitely has the Rev B IDE chip with the 420 or whatever after the
chip model number (apparently all 450s had it as standard) so I can
happily plug in a slave IDE drive, which is nice.
