Battery and charging issues are VERY common on Wallstreets and I guess most
of my fault finding approaches may well not be too helpful for you, but here
goes ...

Is it an Apple battery or 3rd party ?

Any lights on the battery ?

Does the battery charge in another machine or a known good battery work in
yours ?

Does it charge with the machine turned off ?

Have you checked that the EMI shielding near the DC in socket isn't shorting
to it ?

Did you do any resets on the machine with the battery in BEFORE you had
problems ?

Is the PRAM battery good ?
