Hi listers

I have a G4 quicksilver with a CD writer as standard - thus unlike many
earlier G4s it doesn't read DVDs.

I would like a DVD writer for archiving, etc., and have seen some external
ones that will write up top 8.4GB. There is an empty bay on the quicksilver
- can I get a writer for this?

Also, a lot of the writeable DVD discs that I see about are 4.2GB is the 8.4
special media or just a crafty way of writing to a 4.2? Will any DVD reader
read an 8.4 DVD or does it have to read by an appropriate drive. If I need
to give out discs out I need to know that they can be read by 'your average
DVD reader'.

TIA

Nick
