I tried Allen's option-command-escape route, and got an audible "bong" sound and the screen went dark. I could still hear the innards turning. Then I powered off and let it sit for a few minutes. Then I tried a straight-forward power-on (no PRAM zap yet) and I still have a dark screen with audible hum.
Does it require 3 hands to do the PRAM-zap start-up? Or do I press the power button and then immediately reach for the keys?
