Hi Dan,

I would go back to the basics.

1. Repair directory damage
2. Install all current updates
3. Repair disk permissions
4. Macjanitor (maybe)

Still no luck?  Try and create a temporary account, login to it and see if
the problem persists.  If so, you may want to perform an install and archive
of the system.

I don?t know any specific preference files to delete without some trial and
error.  :(

Ward and Marta:

I have tried (and just tried again) clicking on just about every link
in each of the topics under Browse Mac OS Help -- each one gives me the
same: "TopicListNoResults".

Given Marta's input, I guess the red squares have nothing to do with
this problem. Apparently they are, so to speak, red herrings.
