I'm not certain. There is a feature in the software that tells you how full the cartridge is, so there must be some kind of sensor but whether it's smart enough to prevent refilling I don't know.

Of course the ink is what kills you--the combo pack that has both a black and a color cartridge runs about $35. It does come with one color cartridge to start you out, but no black cartridge. It's Mac and PC compatible, and if you're just looking for a cheap occasional-use printer this might be worth picking up. --- Rex. | The next meeting of the Louisville Computer Society will be January 24 | at Pitt Academy, 6010 Preston Highway. | The LCS Web page is <http://www.kymac.org>. | List posting address: <mailto:macgroup at erdos.math.louisville.edu> | List Web page: <http://erdos.math.louisville.edu/macgroup> | The next meeting of the Louisville Computer Society will be January 24 | at Pitt Academy, 6010 Preston Highway. | The LCS Web page is <http://www.kymac.org>. | List posting address: <mailto:macgroup at erdos.math.louisville.edu> | List Web page: <http://erdos.math.louisville.edu/macgroup> | The next meeting of the Louisville Computer Society will | be January 24 at Pitt Academy, 6010 Preston Highway. | The LCS Web page is <http://www.kymac.org>. | List posting address: <mailto:macgroup at erdos.math.louisville.edu> | List Web page: <http://erdos.math.louisville.edu/macgroup>
