John, here is my added knowledge from today. i am learning as I am
going. So, my other powerbook sitting in my garden room did print
fine without adding drivers or anything, just by having this iBook
connected to the printer proper. Now, when I plug the printer's USB
into my airport, then nothing prints. So I assume that at least one
main one has to be connected to the source. Of course this from my
point of view is all conjecture. And my new iBook to boot has all
these different ways of asking about printing etc. and the windows
are slightly different and I have by no means mastered all this Tiger
paraphernalia.
But this much is clear, I can print from my other computer without
installing any new drivers, it shows up as shared printers.
If anybody in the know can send me a diagram as to how this all
happens in the circuits etc., this would be splendid, then I might be
relieved from the ever " try and miss or try and be successful" state .
