I've done so many things that I don't remember exactly all I've done.  
However, I did fine the profiles.ini file on my ext hd in home 
folder/library/application/support/firefox (not thunderbird) and another 
profile.ini in homefolder/library/thunderbird.  Figured since nothing 
else has worked that I'd drag both of them to my hard drive.  Still 
don't have my old thunderbird mail, folders, etc.  I've dragged every 
possible file or folder to the hd and still can't retrieve old 
thunderbird stuff.

But I'm not giving up yet.  If I can find something else to drag, I may 
as well give it a try.
