(2nd try...)

Hello,

Would someone please attempt to explain a problem I'm seeing with the
software and/or the internal modem, and an "AppleModemOnHold" item
shown in the Activity Monitor as one of my own processes.

This shows up sometimes after I've disconnected and then reconnected
the dial-up service using the internal modem. I can't track it
consistently with anything else I've used, like mail, web browser,
newsreader, etc., but it does happen intermittently, and when it does,
the modem has been reconnected and seems to be operating *fine*, but
the Activity Monitor shows the process "AppleModemOnHold" has been
started, and this seems to influence the length of time connected,
leading to an early unexpected disconnect (abrupt).

Regards,
Russ Preston
