Hello,

Would someone please attempt to explain a problem I'm seeing with the
software and/or the internal modem, and an "AppleModemOnHold" item
shown in the Activity Monitor as one of my own processes.

This shows up sometimes after I've disconnected and then reconnected
the dial-up service using the internal modem. I can't track it
consistently with anything else used like mail, web browser,
newsreader, etc., but it does happen intermittently. When it does,
the modem has been reconnected and seems to be operating fine, but
the Activity Monitor process "AppleModemOnHold" has been started, and
seems to influence the length of time connected, leading to an early
unexpected disconnect (abrupt).

Regards,
Russ Preston
