If TextEdit isn't powerful enough, we do have BBEdit and AppleWorks. But if you want another alternative and do not want to wait for Nissus Writer to released in an OS-X version, this one, Okito Composer, may do the job for you:
http://okito.net/composer/ It comes in three versions (free, lite and pro) -- the beta version is available and you can pre-order the final release version (free, $23 and $39 <-- it seems this will change to free, $29 and $79 at final release, but I am not sure). All three versions will read M$ Word format, the lite and pro versions will write to it as well (for those that need this ability). Hopefully this means we will start seeing more of things like this. All versions are written in Cocoa, which means they are OS-X native. Jerry The next meeting of the Louisville Computer Society will be October 22 For more information, see <http://www.aye.net/~lcs>. A calendar of activities is at <http://www.calsnet.net/macusers>.
