Hey Folks,

Does anyone know much about Mac to WinWhatever video chat apps? Here's
the deal:

Step-daughter in Delaware using a 400MHz Powerbook [firewire model]
running Mac OS X 10.3.5.
Her boyfriend in Iraq, having to use Yahoo! messenger on some sort of
Windoze machine.
He doesn't care about audio - he'd rather type, because the computer
room is a common room, so others would hear everything he said.
The computers in the computer room have webcams.

I checked out the iSights, but the requirements for using them (at
least with iChat) are that the computer be 600MHz or better. I've poked
around and found that folks had claimed that the beta version of iChat
AV (which I *think* became the new iChat) worked fine on a 500MHz
iBook. I've found no claims to have iChat work well with an iSight on a
400MHz Powerbook.

Does anyone have any ideas about the best sort of webcam to get for the
old Powerbook? Ideas about the right configuration of chat programs to
use?

Thanks for any tips,

Bill
