Thanks to all for the good info. Here was the outcome: . Bought an iSight for my stepdaughter. . First try using a piece of $9 shareware to trick her machine into accepting the iSight. . If that is lousy, send the computer off for a CPU upgrade to a G4.
Could be a lot of money for video chatting, could be really stupid, but my guess is that she'll be plenty happy with a few fps, so it won't be that much more than the cost of the webcam.
