Hey folks!

When reading all the enthusiastic endorsements for having the meetings at
MacTown, I gotta confess that I feel a bit confused. Here's what I would
list as the strengths and weaknesses for the two sites, and from what I
can see, Pitt still is a better choice:

Pitt Strengths (+) and Weaknesses (-) and No Big Deals (o)
--------------

+ Because some of the user group members help maintain Pitt's network, we
have free run of the place.

+ Big place to sit with lots of tables.

+ The organizers can come and go as they please, meaning that multiple
people from the user group itself have keys to the building. So... this
means that if there is a need for a dry run, or to arrive early to set
things up, it is very simple to arrange.

+ Plenty of parking for this car-addicted city.

+ Central location for this car-addicted city, since it is a hop-skip and
a jump from the middle of the main beltway (the Watterson).

o Served by a bus line (43) which runs every hour around meeting times.

- Drab.

- No shopping opportunities.

MacTown Strengths and Weaknesses
--------------------------------

+ Helps support a local Mac merchant.

- There is more than one local Mac merchant, so having the meetings at
MacTown looks like an endorsement of one buisiness over another.

+ Served by a major bus line (23), which runs every 1/2 hour around
meeting times.

+ Better local ambience.

- Little parking for this car-addicted city. Parking in another business'
parking lot isn't really an option.

- Dependence on an outside entity for access to the building and
equipment.

Now, these lists are undoubtedly incomplete, so perhaps others will be
able to fill them up with more plusses and minuses. I truly believe that
the dependence and selective endorsement minuses are enough to keep the
meeting at Pitt. If Pitt goes under and location evaporates, then another
location will be needed, but until that becomes a certainty, I would put
my vote in for keeping the meeting place at Pitt.
